This is not a traditional bobblehead in the sense that its head is fixed on to the body, like a small statue. Instead, it is the gloved fists that are spring-loaded to bobble when flicked, representing Donald Brashear's most revered talent in the NHL: his fighting skills. Breashear was never drafted but played 3 seasons in the QMJHL before joining the Canadiens' AHL affiliate in Fredericton in 1992-93. In 1993-94 he scored 66 points in 62 AHL games to finish second on the team, earning him a call-up. He would spend parts of four seasons playing for the Habs, followed by stops in Vancouver, Washington, Philadelphia, and New York. After his NHL career, Brashear returned to Quebec to play in the LNAH before surprisingly heading to Sweden to play for historic club MODO in 2014-15 at the age of 43. This bobble commemorates Brashear's time with the Flyers, where he spent four seasons. Brash isn't the only player to receive a "bobblefist" statue; others have included Jay Wells, Mike Liambas, Dennis Bonvie, and Derek Boogaard, many of which feature heads that bobble as well. |
